Lulu allows only female users to access the app.

An app that has been described as “Facebook meets Sex and the City” invites women to anonymously rate the men they’ve dated.

‘Lulu’ is a mobile app that allows women to evaluate men they know or have dated based on their sexual, personal and romantic appeal.

Once the user logs in, she is presented with the male Lulu users from her contact list.

She is then asked a series of questions about the person’s sense of humour, manners, ambition, commitment level, and appearance, giving them a score in each area.

Women can also choose from a series of hashtags to describe the male user, ranging from #dudecancook to #mummyissues.

Men can then log onto their profile to see their average score and which hashtags have been used to describe them.

Founder Alexandra Chong has emphasised that the app can be a handy tool when it comes to safe and smart dating.

Speaking to the Mail Online, she explained: “We created Lulu to bring those private conversations among women online and to unleash the value of girl talk.

Our goal is to provide a private network for women to share their experiences and get information to make smarter decisions.”

However, the app has been the source of some controversy, with many disputing Chong’s claim that it is a safety tool for women.

One such critic is Peter Lloyd, author of Stand by Your Manhood who said: “Lulu is dressed up as a safety initiative, but it’s actually just a humiliation app.”

Despite the backlash, more that 1 million men have signed up to the app thus far.
