Mila Kunis Admits She Had To Make Herself Believe ‘Ted’ Was A Real Bear

The Ukrainian-born actress says she spent her new movie having to believe her toy-bear co-star was real.

Mila Kunis admits she had to make herself believe in the crude-talking, beer-boozing bear that she co-starred with in her new movie ‘Ted’, despite the difference in Ted to her own cuddly creatures at home.

“I knew Ted would be a very different sort of bear and I was aware of what I was getting myself into,” the ‘Black Swan’ star said.

She confesses to still owning her own childhood teddy bear, but is quick to mention that he is a far more innocent creature than her crude, furry co-star.

Kunis plays ‘Lori’ in ‘Ted’, the long suffering girlfriend of Mark Wahlberg’s character, whose best buddy is the mischievious bear he has had since he was a small kid.

“Both Mark and I realised we had to go into the movie with the assumption that Ted is real,” Kunis told The Irish Sun, “because the second we would stop believing it, the film would fall apart.”

The dark-haired actress was thought to look too young for the role at the beginning but the comedy project took a few years to develop and, by the time filming came around, Kunis was deemed perfect for the part.

Critics have described ‘Ted’ as the “crudest, wildest, silliest and most original comedy in years.”

‘Ted’ is the product of the same production team behind ‘Family Guy’ and can promise a lot of the same perverse humour. Critics say it proves director Seth McFarlene can do more than just cartoons.

‘Ted’ is released in Irish cinemas on August, 1st.
