It seems leftovers aren’t the only guarantee this St. Stephen’s Day – with Met Eireann issuing a Yellow Weather Warning for much of Munster and Leinster today.

If you’re staying in or around Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Carlow or Kerry – the chances are you should just stay inside in front of the telly, with heavy rainfall expected to fall at about 15 to 25 mm today.

The continuous rainfall over the past few days also means a strong chance of localised flooding for some affected areas.

Thankfully, top temperatures are set to stay in and around 10 or 11C along the south and southeast coast, although it will drop to a cooler 4 to 7C elsewhere.

Heading out tonight for a few drinks to celebrate the festive season?

Wrap up warm, with lowest temperatures expected to drop to just -1C.

As well as the cold and frosty bite in the air, take caution if out driving as there will likely be icy stretches on untreated roads.

Check with local weather forecasts before taking any trips and plan the safest route to your destination.
