It's going to be a wet one!

Rebecca McKnight

You’d need to be wearing a raincoat and carrying your umbrella if you’re out and about today.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for Munster, Leinster, Cavan and Monaghan as some heavy rain showers are expected.

The forecaster has predicted accumulations between 20 and 40mm today. The warning is in effect until midnight.

The rain is due to ease later tonight which will see highest temperatures between 8 and 11 degrees Celsius.

But it’s not all bad news as it is expected to turn dry in most places overnight with lowest temperatures under 5 degrees Celsius.

These conditions will continue into Saturday which is supposed to be mainly dry with sunny spells and isolated showers. Highest temperatures will be around 11 to 14 degrees Celsius.

As the day progresses, some drizzle will develop which will carry into Sunday morning. Sunday as a whole will be mild but wet with fresh winds.
