A Saudi Arabian man has divorced his wife after she claimed to be in love with a camel during a trip to the capital city.
During a visit to the wife’s family home, the man started to flirt with his wife when she apparently told him she couldn’t return the affection as she was in love with her father’s camel, al-Waleef.
According to The Huffington Post, the unnamed man was outraged by his wife’s declaration of loving the camel more than him, growing increasingly frustrated by his wife’s decision to praise the camel in his presence.
Declaring his wife was an animal herself, he announced plans to end their marriage to ‘teach his arrogant wife a lesson’.
Although some have criticised him for ending a marriage in the Islamic State, other reports suggest the wife may have planned the camel incident to enrage her husband.
It is currently illegal for a woman to divorce a man in Saudi Arabia without a male guardian’s permission.
Or possibly the intervention of a camel.
