Mens’ thongs are sold out in Cork as hundreds get set to bare all at tomorrow’s Cork Body-Painting Guinness World Record event.
Hundreds of naked, body-painted people will be photographed on the streets of Cork tomorrow in a bid to break the world body-painting record.
New York currently holds the record of 264 bodies for ‘The Most Painted Bodies In One Place’ feat, and has done so for the last four years. Cork is planning to out-strip the record this year as 440 people confirm their attendance for tomorrow’s photoshoot.
Two thirds of these hopeful record-breakers are women.
The official Facebook page for the event is advising men to visit sex-shops in Cork to buy their thonged under-garments as the males report a shortage of thongs in the city.
“If you cannot get a thong, y-fronts should do,” the page advises.
The wall-post reads:
“Good morning everyone! Probably get a few updates here today. Mens thongs have sold out in Cork. Some people are saying they are wearing jockstraps. You could also wear a womans thong (just make sure it’ll hold you in) or you could wear y-fronts. Any queries, get on to us here!”
Participant Audrey Barrett told The Cork News it will prove to people that the Irish are not prudish.
“The numbers who have signed up prove that us Irish aren’t prudish, with it steadily growing every week. I know people might be conscious about their size, shape, lumps, bumps or wrinkles, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter as we’re all part of one big group and doing it for one purpose,” she said.
The day does not end there. Record-breakers are encouraged to bring a bike and participant in the Cork World Naked Bike Ride soon after the photo-shoot.
Both the meeting point and the route of the Bike Ride will not be advertised in advance, with those who register to be told within a short distance of the city centre tomorrow afternoon.
At the last minute, they will receive a text telling them the precise location to meet, meaning that riders are given a degree of protection from intrusive photography.
Visit the group’s Facebook page ‘Cork Body Painting Guinness World Record’ for more information on the event.
All we’re saying is fingers crossed undergarments are found in time!
