“Fly on the wings of love… fly baby flyyyyy!”
One Irish man is clearly not familiar with the concept of cabin pressure, staying ice-cool for a mile-high proposal!
Travellers aboard one Aer Lingus flight were treated to a show recently, when a fellow passenger popped the question to his other half mid-air and over the PA system.
The heart-warming clip was uploaded to the airline’s official Facebook page on Wednesday and has been vowed thousands of times since.
The man, who has not yet been named, said: “I was going to do this in October but I can’t wait that long.
“I just want to ask you will you do me the honour of marrying me?”
Happily, she answers yes… before following up with a threat in true hilarious Irish style.

Aer Lingus have since gotten in touch to provide this statement:
We were thrilled to be able to facilitate a surprise wedding proposal on board the EI 876 flight to Lanzarote on Saturday 20th June 2015. The flight took off from Cork airport at 14.20 and touched down at 6.15pm local time.
Days in advance of the flight the gentleman in question got in touch with the Aer Lingus Customer Service team in Cork to inform them of his romantic plan and ask for some assistance in making it possible.
Aer Lingus cabin crew are recognised for their outstanding care and attention and this was no exception. The cabin crew managing the flight discreetly brought on board a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne, provided by the gentleman, that he planned to present to his new fiancée.
During the flight the man gestured to a cabin crew member that he was ready to pop the question and did so via the PA system on board. To the delight of the passengers and his girlfriend said yes and a rapturous applause erupted.
Over 11 million passengers fly with Aer Lingus every year and many exciting and wonderful things happen on board our flights. They say love knows no bounds and that was certainly the case last Saturday when our guest got down on one knee to propose to his girlfriend. On behalf of Aer Lingus we wish the couple every happiness and look forward to welcoming them on board again soon when they make their return journey back to Cork.
