Let the Music Play… Four HMV Stores Set to Reopen

Four of the sixteen Irish branches will reopen in the coming weeks

There is some silver lining on the horizon for former HMV employees and customers with the news that four of the chain’s Irish stores are set to reopen in the coming weeks.

Three Dublin branches and one Limerick store will open their doors to trade once more by the first week of September. Reports so far suggest that of 120 jobs filled so far, 70 positions have gone to original employees of the company who lost their jobs when the chain went into administration in January.

Barry Whelan, Managing Director of Excel Recruitment, said: “We recruited most of those who re-applied.”

“Jobs were in different locations, and obviously there were more HMV stores originally, so there was more people than would fit into four stores, obviously”, he added.

The stores set to reopen are Henry Street, Liffey Valley and Dundrum Shopping Centre in Dublin, and Crescent Sopping Centre, Limerick.
