Now there is a headline we didn't expect to read, never mind write, this afternoon!

Leonardo DiCaprio is going to be honoured at the 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival next month.

The Inception star will receive the American Riviera Award which celebrates those who have had a “strong influence on American cinema.”

Leonardo alongside co-stars Christopher Waltz and Samuel L Jackson.

Roger Durling, executive director of the festival, spoke to reporters about the achievement.

“We are thrilled to be honouring Leonardo DiCaprio with the American Riviera Award, in a year where he has shown us another layer of his immeasurable talent,” he explained. (And what talent did you think we were referring to?!)

The Titanic star is one of the leads in upcoming release Django Unchained.

Durling added: “His performance in Django Unchained reaffirms that he is the most relevant actor of this generation.”

Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, which is about a slave-turned-bounty hunter who plans to rescue his wife from a plantation owner, also looks set to grab a few titles this year having been tipped for a number of film awards.
