Leave Your Trolley Behind! The Tesco Drive-Through Could Be Coming To A Town Near You…

We think this is an ingenious idea... How long until it comes to our local Tesco store...?!

Her

A drive-through supermarket? How has this not happened before?

Supermarket giant Tesco is to start a ‘drive-through’ service initiative as it looks to increase its customers after its first sales fall in nearly 20 years.

The ‘click and collect’ scheme, although we’ll be calling it the ‘drive-through’ (!), will have shoppers buy all their products on the internet before driving to pick them up at the supermarket’s drive-through.

No messy parking. No forgetting and having to drive back or, worse, buy plastic bags. No being tempted by the treats on the shelves and buying twice what you planned to. No packing the trolley up, unpacking it in the car-park, packing up the boot and un-packing it at home. This sounds like absolute magic!

The scheme will be rolled out across 150 stores in Britain, but we can’t wait to see how long it will be until it hits our shores.

Shoppers will have to pay £2 sterling for the service but it will free them a lot of time and save the Tesco delivery guys a lot of trips.

Everyone’s a winner! Or should we say, every little helps…

No more buying plastic bags and forgetting our renewable bags… sounds like supermarket heaven!

The supermarket, Britain’s biggest retailer, slid 11.6 per cent for the six months until September, compared to last year. It was the retail giant’s first drop in 18 years.

Tesco is being hit by competition from rivals as well as shoppers cutting back their spending in the recession.

Would you use the supermarket drive-through system…?
