As long as you’re ahead of a trend, take risks and are very passionate, I think you’re going to be fine. You really have to have a multitasking mind that can switch from one thing to the other easily without too much focus on ‘oh I’m going to Instagram my life.

When I was starting out, I had to do things very resourcefully. Once you’ve learned to work with nothing, it becomes easier to work with something and to be very efficient in the way you allocate resources. If you’re starting out as an entrepreneur, don’t let anything– whether it’s a contact or a networking opportunity– go to waste.

For a personal style blog, a good picture matters. Even if you are taking your outfit picture with a point and shoot or a cell phone camera, it should be clear and not fuzzy or blurry. For a regular blog, blogging frequently at least a few times a week is important so your visitors always have something to look forward to!

On vlogging success, Sam says success: I would say lighting and camera equipment is very important now, as if the video doesn’t look good quality very few people will stay tuned into the end. Obviously, being passionate and knowledgeable about your chosen subject is important and staying true to who you are and your viewers.

The part that I had a hard time with was getting my blog up to speed with technology. My blog used to look awful. I got a web designer to remake it, and it runs so much better now. I didn’t know any of the technical side of it. Familiarizing yourself with HTML and learning about your camera, that’s what counts. It makes your life so much easier, and you feel like you have so much control over your blog if you don’t have to have someone else help you write your posts.
