Keane Frontman Set To Go Solo

The English rock band's frontman has admitted he has begun writing his own songs.

Keane’s frontman is thinking of doing it by himself.

The alternative rock-band’s Tom Chaplin has revealed he is planning his first solo album.

While the group have racked up a string of hits like ‘Everybody’s Changing’, ‘Spiralling’ and ‘Bedshaped’, all those songs have been written by the keyboardist, 36-year-old Tim Rice-Oxley.

But Tom, 33, has been busy penning some tunes at his home in Sussex in the UK.

He said; “When I release my songs it will be as a solo project.

“In Keane we know what our roles are, so it’d make sense for me to put my songs out separately to the band.”

Tom reckons his own songs may be “very camp”.

“Lyrically, they’re very direct, as Tim’s are. They’re probably too explicit, as they document what’s been going on inside my head for the past seven years.”

But Tom has insisted Keane fans do not need to worry about the band splitting up.

He said his new album won’t be recorded just yet and won’t affect Keane, as they’re busy touring their own new album, ‘Strangeland’.

The singer admitted he also had his eye on another gig, playing keyboards for Lana Del Rey, 26.

“We’re all massive Lana fans,” he laughed.

The British band play at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and Belfast’s Waterfront Hall this November.
