Canadian newspaper Toronto Star ran this column on Friday… and during the process in which the article was written, edited and placed on the page not one person thought that the first line of this story could be viewed as inappropriate.
Regular columnist Rosie DiManno wrote about a sexual assault victim testifying against a doctor who she claimed had violated her while she was sedated.
The doctor allegedly sexually abused the woman behind the surgical screen and placed his penis in her mouth.
Writer DiManno aimed to shock readers with her opening line.
But did she not realise the woman’s story was horrific enough without the addition of such a bizarre, ill-thought out first line?
