Once regarded as Lucan’s best kept secret, The Riptide Movement are now enjoying some well-deserved international success.
2014 was a mammoth year for the Dublin rock band with a record deal secured with Universal Records, and sold-out tour dates around Europe.
Formed in Dublin in 2009, The Ripdtide Movement is made up of vocalist and guitarist Mal Tuohy, guitarist John Dalton, bassist and harmonic player Ger McGarry and drummer Gar Byrne.
The guys have toured across Ireland, the UK, Europe, the US, Russia and India, supported The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park, and performed with a 70-piece orchestra for the BBC. Six years and three albums later, the foursome are now regarded as one of the country’s finest rock bands.
The Riptide Movement’s third album, ‘Getting Through’ was released in April 2014 and reached the top of the Irish charts. The album’s standout single, ‘All Works Out’ has been featured in the Discover Ireland video for the album’s standout single, ‘All Works Out,’ starring none other than the multi-talented Amy Huberman.
This summer is looking pretty rosy for the group, with the Dublin quartet set to perform at some of Europe’s biggest festivals including Benicassim and T In The Park.
The next opportunity for Irish fans to see the guys live and in colour will be at The Leixlip Festival on 30 May.
The Riptide Movement will also be performing at Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival which takes place on the shores of Bundoran from 19 – 21 June.
