The Cork native who was dubbed a hero after protecting his girlfriend from attackers at the Bataclan, has proposed.
David Nolan and Katie Healy were at the Eagles of Death Metal concert when gunmen stormed the venue, killing 89, as part of a series of planned attacks across Paris.
David protected Katie from gunfire and both survived, however David was seriously injured and is still in the recovery process.
However, it’s happy news for the couple this week as Katie has taken to Twitter to announce their engagement.
She posted a snap of herself wearing a sparkler with the caption: “This old thing?” before going on to explain: “Have I mentioned David proposed? We’re engaged. We’re getting married, no big deal. AGH.”

Earlier that day the Louth native Katie had dropped some hints online, first sharing that the pair were enjoying a romantic break at the Shelbourne, and then writing “Happiest day of my life”.

The news comes just under a month after the Paris attacks – the couple were in the French capital celebrating Katie’s birthday at the time. Speaking on the Ray D’Arcy show last month she said: “David decided it would be a grand romantic gesture to bring me to Paris for my birthday, take me to the places I wanted to go.” Recalling the night of the attacks she said: “The whole time, David and I were reassuring each other. “I was saying to stay down, and that I loved him. “He was telling me that he loved me. “What do you say? Besides ‘I love you’, ‘stay down’, ‘stay calm’, ‘stay down’, ‘don’t move’.”
