The Irish women’s rugby team are in contention to take the title after an emphatic 20-0 win over Wales away in the RBS Six Nations on Sunday.

Tries from Paula Fitzpatrick (first half) and a second half try from Alison Miller sent the girls in green on their way to glory.

Captain Niamh Briggs was on shooting form for the side, slotting over the two conversions with ease and adding two penalties to ensure victory.

The competition is now wide open after Italy’s shock victory over France on Saturday afternoon.

It will be neck-in-neck between Ireland and France next weekend though, as if Ireland beat Scotland and France beat England, Ireland need to have won by 21 more points than France in order to be crowned champions.
