Imagine being paid by brands to travel all over the world and take pictures on Instagram.
A dream job for most – but this is reality for 20-year-old Australian Sjana Earp.
The travel-fan is best known on the site for posting pictures of her toned body in various yoga poses around the world.
The Insta-guru went from 3,000 to 10,000 followers in one month just by following some simple tips religiously, and now has a whopping following of more than 840,000.
She recently opened up to Cosmopolitan about how she made a career out of Instagram and her top 13 tips for getting thousands of likes.
Insta-lovers take note.
1. Shoot during the daytime and rely on natural light.
2. Make sure the photo is mostly white or a bright color.
3. Capture a symmetrical outdoor landscape or a pretty street, wall, or door.
4. Shoot horizons horizontally.
5. Make sure the shot is uncluttered and contains only you (or just a few people).
6. If you’re going to be in the photo, assume a fun pose using a natural prop (like a railing or bench).
7. Write thoughtful captions.
8. If you don’t love your photo as is, enhance it — but don’t use Instagram. It’s not that Instagram filters are ‘bad,’ I just find that they’re very predictable.
9. Try VSCO Cam, Camera360, and Snapseed photo editing apps to make whatever you’re working with look a million times prettier.
10. Post cute puppy pics.
11. Use quotes.
12. Don’t force a filter. Sometimes scenes are gorgeous enough to stand on their own.
13. Post your photo when your followers are going to sleep or waking up.
