They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery – and for one dad, he’s delighted his art work is being dubbed the ‘Andy Warhol of Instagram’.
Donald Robertson of Larchmont, New York, works as a creative director for special products at Estee Lauder by day, but has taken to creating masterpieces during the early hours of the morning under his artist name @DonaldDrawbertson.
Donald told the New York Post that he likes to wake up and create his artwork at four in the morning, to ‘start his day productively’.
The 52-year-old has recreated portraits of fashion greats Anna Wintour, pop star Kanye West and tour snaps of Miley Cyrus. The account takes inspiration from fashion power-houses and includes a number of catwalk images and designer labels.
With more than 27,000 Instagram followers, as well as a re-grams from Oscar star Lupita Ny’ongo, Donald Robertson is surprised by the feedback his new hobby has brought him:
“People say I am reminiscent of Andy Warhol because he started as an illustrator and then transitioned into art. I am kind of in that position now. Andy’s output was maybe monthly. I like putting out three or four things a day.
“It used to be that you did a painting, but you’d have to save it for your next art show. We live in an ADD culture, so I want constant flow.”
Donald will be hosting his first art show in New York in June. We just wonder what celebrities will be attending – and not just on the walls.

Not forgetting the Lupito regram…
