Fantastic news!

Her

Proud parents James and Grace Slattery have welcomed quadruplets in the early hours of yesterday morning in Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital.

The couple of ten years, who already have one son, were trying for another baby following four miscarriages in recent years when they conceived the quadruplets naturally without IVF.

The couple, from Caherconlish, Co. Limerick, welcomed three daughters and a son – Amelia, Lily Grace, Molly and Lucas – all born within four minutes of each other at 3.54pm yesterday.

The babies weighed between 2lbs15oz and 4lbs 3oz.

Despite being scheduled for a C-section on Tuesday, James received a call from his wife on Tuesday morning to let him know her waters were after breaking.

Speaking on The Ray D’Arcy show, James said:

“I’m now known as ‘The Quadfather’.

Reliving his children’s births, James hold the host:

“Grace told me, ‘You’re not going to make it here on time. You need to get on to the Gardas and see if you can get an escort up’. I thought she was away with the birds, I didn’t think it would happen at all.”

“They literally gave us a lift all the way up to the Rotunda and I ran in the door and just made it in time.”

While on air, he took the opportunity to thank the couple’s family, friends and neighbours for the support and help in “painting the babies’ rooms, building units, and helping us out.”

Mother and babies are all happy and healthy.

Grace took to her Facebook page yesterday to confirm the amazing news, posting:

“All came out kicking and screaming and all are doing well at the moment…. Thanks for all yer good wishes and keep praying for babies xxxx. Our family of 3 is now a family of 7!!! Amazing.”

Congrats to the family!
