If you’re a fan of self-service check-outs, we doubt that extends to the automated voice telling you to remove your ‘unexpected item in the bagging area’. Only made more annoying by the fact there’s nothing new on the tray.
Well life is about to get a lot less irritating for self-service checkout users.
Thanks to one Buzzfeed user, they discovered a volume mute button at the bottom of most self-service checkout screens – which is about to transform your shopping life.
The mute button features right underneath the second scariest thing on the screen… the ‘Total’ figure.

It’s pretty simple too – just tap on the speakers icon that appears under a majority of screens and bingo – no more annoying baggage delay updates.
We can’t say it’ll stop every niggly, annoying self-service grievance, but it’s definitely going to help tackle the worst of it.
