“I Don’t Want To Wait For Our Lives To Be Over” Eleven Things We Learned From Dawson’s Creek

We REALLY miss Dawson's Creek.

Sue Murphy

First of all, we have just been far too long without Dawson’s Creek in our lives. The show which left our screens in 2003 still has a place in our hearts as one of the greatest teen-angst dramas of all time and when we could decipher what they were saying, we learned so much from them. Here are eleven important lessons.

1. There has always been a hipster in every group.

There always is! Here, it was Dawson.

2. Boys and girls can never be just friends.

Well, most of the time…

3. What goes around, comes around.

We’ve all been in that situation where we have been crazy about someone, but they only realise that after we are over them.

4. The path to true love never runs smooth.

It’s just really complicated being 16.

5. Do not make a move on your best friend unless you’re sure it will work out.

No, never.

6. Grandmothers are wise souls.

Grams always had all the answers, didn’t she?

7. Learning new words is always good.

Who had this kind of vocabulary at 16?! WHO?

8. A window is the proper way to enter a house.

No need to use a door!

9. Everyone needs a white picket fence.

Just… because?

10. Do not have an affair with your teacher. Ever.

It’s just really not a good idea.

11. Nervous breakdowns at 16 are entirely acceptable.

Everyone has a breakdown at 16, right?

Honorary mention.

If all else in life fails, sing a song from Les Miserables.
