The first movie in the series was a worldwide blockbuster, and it looks as though the powers that be are doing everything in their power to ensure that ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ follows suit.
After weeks of speculation, another casting decision has been announced; joining Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the line-up for the adaptation of the second book in the trilogy is ‘Capote’ actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Hoffman will play the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, Head Gamemaker for The Hunger Games, who makes a brief appearance in book one but plays a much larger part as the story develops. If the movie adaptations remain loyal to the stories, Hoffman is expected to feature two more Hunger Games movies after ‘Catching Fire’, as ‘Mockingjay’, the final book in the trilogy, will be split into two movies.
No word as yet on who will play heartthrob Finnick Odair, but Armie Hammer and Garret Hedlund remain the names most regularly mentioned in association with the role.
