Here’s Why you Should Use A Different Body Wash After a Gym Session

This actually makes a lot of sense.

Choosing the perfect shower gel probably isn’t top of our beauty priority list.

In fact, we tend to just pick up whatever is 2-for-1 in Tesco.

But  it turns out our body wash could be responsible for many of our biggest beauty calamities, including acne on the chest and back.

We should be using a separate body wash after working out.

Coming into Winter, there’s no prizes for guessing that we should be choosing a more moisturising formula.

However, what we didn’t know is that we should be using a separate anti-bacterial formula after a sweaty workout sesh, especially if you are acne-prone.

Francesca Fusco, M.D., a medical and cosmetic dermatologist in New York, told Women’s Health that it is imperative to combat acne-causing bacteria in the shower post-gym.

A mixture of bacteria and sweat can cause acne.

She said: “For gym showers only, I recommend antibacterial soaps, because let’s face it, gyms can be sources of bacteria.”

However, she did emphasise that anti-bacterial formulas can be very drying, so after your gym shower, “moisturizing is a must.”

There are plenty of bacteria-fighting formulas available, like the Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Antibacterial Bar.

One more thing to add to the shopping list. *sigh*.
