Everybody knows the film, knows the characters and knows the famous line: “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”
But that doesn’t mean that we need another Casablanca, does it?
According to the New York Post, one of the original screenwriters, Howard Koch, penned a treatment for a sequel which has been found by Cass Warner, the granddaughter of Harry Warner who is the co-founder of Warner Bros.

The sequel focuses on Ilsa and her husband Victor who are looking for Rick.
The follow-up, called Return to Casablanca, was to focus on Ilsa and Victor Laszlo in their search for Rick Blaine who joined the Free French troops.
But the real gem of the story is Ilsa’s twenty-something son who just happens to also be Rick’s son.

Ilsa and Rick are one of the most famous onscreen ‘couples’ of all time.
Speaking about the idea to Entertainment Weekly, Warner said: “It was just gold… I want generations to continue to appreciate Casablanca. I feel it’s a tool to do that.”
It might well be that but a Casablanca without Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart? Surely that’s just wrong.
