Have you eaten in these places?

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has today revealed that five closure orders and a prohibition order were served on food businesses in April for breaches of food safety legislation.

“The legal onus is on food businesses to be responsible and ensure that the food they serve is safe to eat in accordance with the legislation,” said Professor Alan Reilly, Chief Executive of the FSAI.

“Greater vigilance is required to ensure standards are not permitted to slip, thereby potentially putting the health of consumers at risk.  Of particular disappointment is the ongoing number of cases involving improper storage of foodstuffs and poor cleaning and sanitising. These breaches are completely avoidable when food businesses have proper food safety management systems in place”.

Three Closure Orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 on:

  • Damson Diner, 52 William Street South, Dublin 2
  • Rice Asian Cuisine, 11 Bridge Street, Ardee, Louth
  • Mo’s Kitchen, Larkin’s Cross, Barntown, Wexford

Two Closure Orders was served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

  • PAK National Food Ireland, Unit 726 Northwest Business Park, Dublin 15
  • Red Parrot (kitchen on ground floor only), 57–58 Lower Dorset Street, Dublin 1

One Prohibition Order was served under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010 on:

  • Gallagher Meats, O’ Connell Street, Ballymote, Sligo

A successful prosecution was carried out by the Health Service Executive against Dynasty in Ballymun, Dublin 11.
