Rupert Grint, who hit the big time thanks to his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, is to take to Broadway this October.

The 25-year-old has signed on for the Terrence McNally production of It’s Only A Play alongside Matthew Broderick, Matthew Lane and Stockard Channing, famous for her role as Rizzo in Grease.

Grint is set to take on the role of Frank Finger, the young director of a play written by an anxious writer, played by Matthew Broderick.

“I’m thrilled to be making my Broadway debut alongside this amazing cast and creative team,” Grint said, as he follows in the footsteps of his Harry Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe.

Radcliffe has made quite the name for himself on the Broadway stage, starring in production such as Equus, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and The Cripple of Inishmaan.
