Guy Creates Computer Game About His Frustrating Job… And Then Gets Fired

A customer service rep who thought he was being smart launched a game called “I Get This Call Every Day” that lets players experience the frustration of working in a call centre.

How’d it go down in the office?

Well, it didn’t. The guy was fired.

The customer service rep for the Canada Revenue Agency created the game which, as one user described it, was “a depressing but worthwhile experience.”

When the game was launched, the creator, David Gallant, didn’t reveal where he worked.

But he wasn’t smart enough to use a screen name, so it didn’t take much for people to figure it out.

The Toronto Star reported that both Gallant’s employer and the office of National Revenue commented on Gallant’s creation.

David Gallant has his own website for the game.

The National Revenue said: “this type of conduct [is] offensive and completely unacceptable,” and called for investigations into Gallant’s actions.

Gallant told the Star that he wasn’t naive about his employer’s possible reaction to the game.

“I made this bed when I released the game,” he said. “If I have to lie in it, I will lie in it. That’s just something I will have to deal with.”

And that appears to have happened, as Gallant is now without his day job… and we’re guessing his reference wasn’t anything too impressive either.

According to his Twitter feed, Gallant has seen a surge in the support and interest in his game.
