Get In Line: The Best Dealz for Those Weekly Essentials

A weekly food shop is something every household has to do so you'll be glad to hear that Dealz makes it easier!

All we can say is that nothing beats a good food bargain. Whether it’s three for two or buy one get one half price, we are drawn to them like a moth to a flame.

So you can imagine our excitement at the prospect of heading to Dealz, where everything is €1.49, to get all our weekly food essentials for a mere €20.

With a voucher, a trolley and bags full of enthusiasm we set off down the aisles like we had never seen food before never mind bought it!

To start off we grabbed the basic daily essentials including milk, bread, chocolate chip cookies (yes, they are an essential) and of course those trusty teabags.

We could have easily spent the whole €20 in this aisle!

For the week’s breakfast we got Nestlé Fitness Cereal Fruits although we were also tempted by a box of Kellogg’s Cornflakes. To finish off our morning menu for the next seven days we picked up two cartons of fruit juice.

Now it was time to sort out lunch for the week and let’s face it there was plenty to choose from. In the end we opted for the easy-to-cook and money-saving multipack of Heinz beans along with three cans of soup.

With breakfast and lunch both sorted, all that was left to organise was dinner. And while we’ll admit we were a tad worried, the Dealz shelves didn’t let us down.

Three bags of Tilda rice, a curry sauce, three tins of chopped tomatoes, a Bolognese mix and four Weight Watchers naan breads later we were finished and rather delighted with ourselves.

Heading for the till, the pressure of the grand total loomed but thankfully it all totted up to an astounding and by no means purse-busting €19.17.

But then again we knew that the totting up wasn’t going to be an issue, it was more about what we were going to pick!

With over 100 new grocery lines to choose from and more brand names than we can count, we were really spoilt for choice and that’s just the food items.

Dealz has great offers in both food and household.

Dealz also covers household items which might not make it onto the weekly shopping list but certainly cost a few Euros. From Fairy Liquid to bleaches to dishwasher tablets, cheaper prices do not mean less quality in this shop.

And we couldn’t help but notice on our way out of the shop that it caters for those special occasions as well, including Valentine’s Day. In fact we reckon we could get a pressie and dinner for next week sorted in one swoop and for under €10.

Perhaps we could cook up one of the lovely evening meals we enjoyed this week thanks to our purchases. Reckon it’s a toss up between Tuesday’s tasty chicken curry and last night’s delicious spaghetti Bolognese.
