George Clooney accepted the Cecil B. DeMille at last night’s 72nd Golden Globes in Beverley Hills and made one pretty powerful acceptance speech.
In their opening monologue, co-hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey may have poked fun at Clooney’s lifetime achievement award by listing off all of wife Amal Alamuddin’s incredible achievements in her role as a human rights lawyer, but the 53-year-old actor made sure to let his wife know just how special she was.
“I’ve had a pretty good year myself,” he told the crowd. “It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love, even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years, Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.”
Clooney finished his speech by dedicating it to unity marches around the world in support of Charlie Hebdo and freedom of expression.
