Photographer Karen Rosetzsky has been photographing young lovers for two and a half years.
Taken all over Europe, the photographs tell the story of an eclectic group of lovers tied together by the common thread of young love. Each picture is as beautiful as the one before it, knitting together to illustrate a narrative of love, youth and freedom.
The series has become the subject of Karen’s first autonomous books. Speaking to Her.ie she says:
“I have always been inspired by that unspoiled and sometimes uncomfortable chemistry between young people. I have been looking for intense playful couples in Amsterdam but also during my travels and in my home country Denmark”.
The photos often capture a moment of spontaneity and Karen attributes this to spending short bursts of time with the subjects.
“Sometimes a shoot only takes 15-30 minutes, so in that way I can capture these raw and uncut moments”.
She says the experience of photographing couples is heart warming and a privilege.
“To be invited into people’s intimate space is a very special thing for a photographer. I experienced that people actually really like to tell their stories to strangers and show their love.
Sometimes it’s also a bit awkward”.
