Based on the books by Benjamin Black and set in 1950s Dublin, each feature long episode will deal with a different case, some of which are a little too close for comfort for the main character.

Speaking about the new project James Hickey, Chief Executive of the Irish Film Board, said: ‘The series will be a great opportunity to showcase Irish talent including Irish novelist Benjamin Black (John Banville), Irish screenwriter Conor McPherson and one of the great actors Gabriel Byrne in a quintessential Irish setting of Dublin in the 1950’s.’
