Every week, for our ‘Food High Five’ series, we’re going to talk about food that has great health benefits.
This week, we’re looking at foods that are good for a hangover.
And yes, we do think this is particularly handy considering St Patrick’s Day is tomorrow and chances are you are currently or will soon be suffering from a hangover.
Eggs
It doesn’t matter whether they’re boiled or scrambled, eggs help to break down toxins in your body and are also high in Vitamin B which is said to reduce hangover symptoms.

Bananas
Alcohol is dehydrating which can lead to low levels of potassium but never worry, this is easily fixed with a banana.

Honey
It’s sweet and it contains antioxidants, as well as concentrated fructose, which makes it the perfect hangover cure.

Asparagus
Asparagus apparently boosts the enzymes that break down alcohol. It works better before the symptoms set in so make sure your midnight feast includes plenty!

Toast
The ultimate comfort food, toast is great for the liver after a night of drinking. It will also boost your energy levels and is easy on the tummy.
