It’s one of the most famous apps of all time… and now it’s ready to hit the big screen.

The video game, Angry Birds, is to be made into a movie.

The app’s maker Rovio Entertainment confirmed the news after rumours that the game app was to be made into a feature film have been circulating for some time.

The 3D release is planned for summer 2016.

Producer John Cohen, who’s worked on Despicable Me and Alvin and the Chipmunks is on board for the project.

Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said: “With John’s hands-on producer background and David’s expertise in establishing and running his own successful studio, these two are the dream team for making a movie outside the studio system.

“Both professionals have the ideal skills and vision to achieve incredible things.”

“From both an entertainment and strategic perspective, Rovio is at the forefront of game innovation and is trailblazing terrific new ways for Angry Birds fans to interact with these characters,” added Cohen.

“I’ve personally spent countless hours playing the Angry Birds games over the last few years, which I can now happily justify as research for the movie.”

Since its release in 2009, the Angry Birds app has been downloaded more than one billion times.

Everybody now, “EEEEEEEEE!”

Hitting the big screen soon!
