A few months back, we let you know that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be starring as Dracula for a new retelling of the Bram Stoker tale. NBC have commissioned ten episodes of the drama and since vampires are all the rage, we have no doubt it will do well.
Rhys Meyers stars as the vampire who will be posing as an American entrepreneur in London, who pretends that he wishes to bring modernity to London.
However, Dracula plans to take revenge on his past enemies but is distracted when he becomes consumed by a woman who he is convinced is the reincarnation of his dead wife.
This is largely an Irish affair. Besides Rhys Meyers, Irish actress Katie McGrath, who played Morgana in Merlin, will play Lucy Westenra, while Victoria Smurfitt will play Lady Jane.
The series will premiere this Autumn in the States and since it is a joint US/UK venture will most likely air here about the same time.
