First day nerves can hit us all… even when you’re a multi-million album and single selling, world-famous artist like Britney.
She’s the new face of the US ‘X-Factor’ but it seems she wasn’t always so excited about her new judge’s chair television venture.
It has emerged that popstar Britney Spears almost quit ‘The X-Factor’ on her first day on set.
The ‘Toxic’ singer reportedly signed the dotted line of a €11.9million contract to appear as a judge on the star search show, but had a panic attack on her first day and walked off the set.
After admitting his team “half lied” when they said she only needed to go to the bathroom during the live auditions, the show’s boss Simon Cowell told TMZ; “No one is going to admit that on the first day your highest paid star has walked off set after twenty minutes.
“[She] had a moment on the first day where she said to me ‘I’m not sure I can do this’.”
Cowell must have switched on his charm as he managed to persuade the mum-of-two to head back on stage and the filming for the US version of the show went ahead as planned.

Judges L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell, and Executive Producers Rob Wade and Andrew Llinares get ready to rock with the new series of US ‘X-Factor’.
However, the straight-talking judge did say Spears was much harder to please when it came to judging singers than he thought she would be.
He availed of one of his strange analogies and said; “You know how when you buy a dog, you expect it to lick you, and then it turns out to bite you? It was rather like that.
“It was a real surprise. She’s really, really difficult to please. But in a way I think it made it more interesting because she just wouldn’t say ‘Yes’ for people to like her.
“And when you do these auditions in front of 5,000 people, they boo you.”
Sounds like Britney may have more in common with Scary Spice than we would have ever thought before…
We were told to expect emotions, arguments, drama, new relationships and, of course, some talent in the upcoming series of the US talent show.
Although Simon is to focus on the promotion of his show in the USA, it was revealed yesterday the media mogul is returning to the UK to “revamp” the British version of the show.
‘The X Factor’, which also features Demi Lovato and LA Reid on its judging panel, will return to US screens on September 12.
