The anticipation is not over. ‘Fifty Shades’ fans were tricked into thinking American actor Matt Bomer was tipped for the film’s main role, but they have been assured there are no casting roles decided for the onscreen story yet.
Fans spotted a ‘leaked’ Entertainment Weekly magazine cover online showcasing the White Collar star Matt Bomer. The headline read; “Fifty Shades of Grey: The Wait Is Over”, convincing fans that Bomer was set for the role of the novel’s protagonist Christian Grey.
“Matt Bomer talks about changing the white collar for a grey tie,” the cover read. It implied Bomer had nabbed the role of the mysterious, sex fiend millionaire.
It turns out the magazine cover was simply a very convincing hoax.
Filmmakers later confirmed that the ‘Magic Mike’ star, 25, has not been chosen for the hotly-anticipated role.
Dana Brunetti, one of the co-producers of the big screen adaptation took to Twitter to dispel the buzz, tweeting, “All of the rumours on #FiftyShades are just that, rumours. No one has been cast in any role. We have to get a writer and director first.”
So, yet another Fifty Shades casting rumour dispelled. Although we certainly wouldn’t say no to seeing Matt in the whip-bearing role.
