The awkward moment where you should’ve just asked for some help.
When one Scottish council decided to adopt its Gaelic roots by posting a sign in both English and Gaelic, it apparently never occurred to them to check the spelling with a native speaker.
The sign, which is proudly on display at Rothesay, Argyll and Bute in Scotland, was spotted by one local with a native tongue. Unfortunately it stood out for the wrong reasons…
Posting to his Facebook page, Coinneach Combe posted:
‘So close Argyll & Bute Council…..but the missing accent on the last word means the second sentence translates to “The doorway to the beauty of Penis Island.”. Not even kidding.’
