Most of us treat our smartphones like our best friends, so it isn’t surprising that Facebook might know you better than your BFF.
We’ve known for sometime that Facebook monitors our activity in order to offer us the content that’s most relevant to us.
However, we didn’t know the extent to which we’re being analysed by the social media site.
Not only do they keep track of what we like, share and comment on, but they actually assess your personality traits.
Now, thanks to an app developed by the University of Cambridge, we can see exactly what Facebook thinks of us.
The app, called Apply Magic Sauce, combs your Facebook profile and replicates what the site thinks of you, rating personality traits like competitiveness and impulsiveness.
One researcher, Dr. David Stillwell told Mail Online: “One of the challenges with our modern online lives is that data is being collected about us and predictions are made, but we never get to see what Facebook is doing behind the scenes.
“We wanted to show people, given this fairly innocuous data, this is the prediction Facebook can make about them.”
We’re creeped out… *turns phone face down and pushes away*.
