Organisers released a statement on Sunday night.
The annual turning on of the Christmas lights ceremony had to be cut short on Sunday evening due to concerns over the size of the crowd gathered on Grafton Street.
Performances by a number of acts that had been scheduled to appear during the ceremony, including Hermitage Green and the Hallelujah Gospel Choir, had to be cancelled as organisers decided to call a halt in the interests of the safety and comfort of those present.

A statement released by Dublin Town on Sunday night read as follows.
Huge thanks to everyone who came to the Grafton st Christmas lights. Greater crowds than anticipated. pic.twitter.com/as8TLPzcUM
