Donegal’s senior ladies football team made history on Sunday afternoon when they secured their county’s first ever Ulster ladies senior championship title.
Geraldine McLaughlin was the stand-out star for the winners on the day, notching a hugely impressive 2-7 of Donegal’s 2-12 to 1-10 victory over Monaghan at Clones.

In what was a tense and close opening half, Donegal had just three points to spare over their rivals, going in at the break 0-7 to 0-4 in front.
Meanwhile, it was a tough opening 30 minutes for Monaghan, who lost Laura McEnaney to the sin-bin during the half.
McLaughlin was on hand to goal as the second half got underway, though Catriona McConnell hit the net from a penalty at the other end shortly after to keep the game in the melting pot.
However, McLaughlin was truly unstoppable for Donegal and bagged her second goal of the day minutes later to send Donegal on to victory.
