A girl who had been taken away from her family by Gardai on Monday in Dublin has been confirmed as the daughter of a Roma couple by DNA tests.
According to the Irish Independent, the girl was removed on Monday after a tip-off to the gardai raised concern about whether she was the biological daughter of the couple.
Tests conducted this afternoon have proved that the young girl, who is just 7, is the biological daughter of the couple.

According to the family, the young girl has been very traumatised by the entire event. Speaking to the press, her 18-year-old sister confirmed: “She is very traumatised and very confused as well.”
The family have always insisted that the child is theirs and were upset by the accusations.
The girl had been placed in care while they awaited the results of the tests.
Gardai had interviewed the family members and requested documentation as proof that the girl was their daughter. They were not satisfied with the interview and documentation and informed the family that they needed to take the girl for tests.
There are no further reports as to whether the girl has now been returned to her family or not.
A statement from the Roma family is due to be released shortly.
