Film director Tony Scott jumped to his death after being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, it was claimed last night.
Film legend Scott left the world in shock yesterday as the 68-year-old ‘Top Gun’ director jumped 200 feet from a bridge into the Los Angeles harbour on Sunday.
Today, sources close to Scott have told the media he was battling with the inoperable disease.
Last night the film world was united in grief as tributes poured in from Hollywood.
The film-maker was born in the UK and was famous for his blockbusters, including ‘Days Of Thunder’, ‘Beverly Hills Cop II’, ‘True Romance’ and ‘Top Gun’.
Tony, the brother of ‘Alien’ director Ridley, had left a list of contacts in his car and a note in his office.
Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said the death was being treated as suicide, saying, “There’s nothing to indicate it’s anything else at this time.”
The film-maker’s wife, Donna, 44, was being comforted by close friends and family last night at their home. Tony had 12-year-old twin sons, Frank and Max.
