Damian Lewis is said to be over the moon about his first-ever Emmy nomination for his role in Homeland.
The British actor plays Sergeant Nicholas Brody in the drama series, also nominated, that has become a huge success on both sides of the Atlantic.

Lewis told the Hollywood Reporter, ‘You never take awards seriously until you’re nominated. And then you take them very seriously. It’s just nice to be part of the club.’
At the moment the actor, who has also starred in Life and Band of Brothers, is busy filming the second series with co-star Claire Danes who also got the nod for her role.

Claire Danes could also bag herself an Emmy Award for her role in the popular series.
Homeland itself is up against some big contenders for the ‘Best Drama Series’ award. These include sixties-based Mad Men, British period drama Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones which is filmed in Ireland.
