Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next few weeks.
Do Some Smart Computing
When they’re in use, computers can be something of an electricial drain. Therefore it’s important to take advantage of all the energy-saving functions that your desktop or your laptop has.
A quick way to save money and electricity is to configure your computer to “energy-saving mode.” This means that your computer will automatically change its settings so that they’re in a state of low energy consumption.
Another thing you can do is to switch off the screen of your computer when it’s not in use. This will save even more electricity than just letting the screensaver run.
Finally, make sure you turn off your computer at night time. This will save up to 25 per cent of its annual energy bill.
A good rule of thumb is to remember to turn off your computer whenever you’re not going to use it for more than an hour. Doing this means that you still get to enjoy the wonders of technology but you also save energy and money in the process.
