Save money and do some good for the world around you by using simple measures to conserve energy in the home. If you’re not sure where to start – don’t worry! We’ll be bringing you one great energy-saving tip every day for the next few weeks.
Use The Timer
One of the easiest ways to save money and energy is to time your heating and hot water so that they come on exactly when you need them to. It sounds like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at the amount of people who don’t take advantage of the timers that they have in their home.
For example, rather than putting on the emersion right before you want to have a bath or a shower in the morning, why not time it so your water is automatically heated before you get out of bed and your house is warm and toasty?
When using the timers in your home it’s super-important to be smart about it. Time clever. Make sure that the central heating and the hot water are off when you’re out for the day or gone away for the weekend.
Leaving the timer going when you’re not actually there just wastes electricity and becomes a drain on your finances.
Use the timer sparingly and cleverly so that it comes on only when it’s necessary.
