That’s some way to kick off your senior championship career.
Cork’s Aine O’Sullivan started her senior championship career with a bang on Monday afternoon when she made her debut for Cork’s senior team and scored 3-5 and scooped the Player of the Match award.
The talented forward helped drive the Rebels to a 7-22 to 0-3 win over Meath at Semple Stadium in Thurles and was certainly a pretty awesome trick up Eamonn Ryan’s sleeve.
Both sides came into the game off the back of provincial final defeats to Kerry and Westmeath, but in the end, it was Cork’s experience that drove them to victory over a young Meath side.
Aside from O’Sullivan, Valerie Mulcahy, Ciara O’Sullivan, Rhona Ní Bhuachalla and Orlagh Farmer also goaled for Cork on the day, while Victoria Wall impressed for the Royals, hitting three well-taken points from play.
Now Cork have set up a tantalising quarter-final encounter with Galway on August 15th.
