Funny man Chris O’Dowd revealed that home is where the heart is and said the filming his new show in the west of Ireland was much more fun than Hollywood.
The actor, who hails from County Roscommon, debuted his semi-autobiographical comedy Moone Boy last week but said the tight budget meant he had to move back in with his parents.
According to The Irish Sun, Chris said: “It’s based on my own childhood. In fact, I’m probably being kind to myself, I’m as socially awkward as the character is.
“We did Moone Boy on such a tight budget I got changed in the toilet and slept at my parents’ house.

Chris O’Dowd stars in Moone Boy which continues on Sky1 tonight
“But it’s surprising how little a difference there is between small TV show and a big film.
“A show is all about the people you’re working with – everyone on Moone Boy is brilliant.
“And it was nice to go and give something back.
“I would be nothing if it wasn’t for the town where I grew up and the people who gave me my inspiration.”
He may be Ireland’s most sought after crush but Chris said women are in love with his Bridesmaids character Nathan Rhodes.

“Any of the attention stuff is just because Rhodes is such a nice guy. If Saddam Hussein had played that character, women would have found him adorable. It’s nothing to do with me.”
Chris said he never really had much luck with the ladies when he was younger.
“It’s one thing to be tall now but I wasn’t tall and strong and handsome when I was 6ft aged 11. At that age, you look like some kind of bastardised fern tree. I had a centre parting with curly hair. It was around the time of the Happy Mondays sort of curtains hairdo but mine was really frizzy.
“I was not one for the ladies, I was an alter boy for years.
“But around that time I learned to make women laugh. So that was useful knowledge during the Elephant Man-esque era of my teens since then it’s been all-good,” he said.

“I was like ‘Oh my God, he means him and Angelina! That’s amazing… that’s f*cking crazy.”
