Charities Use Pregnant Schoolgirl Mannequins to Provoke Debate About Sex Ed in Venezuela

Two charities in Venezuela are trying to draw attention to the issue of sex education and adolescent pregnancy in Venezuela using “shock tactics”.

Fundana and Construyendo Futuros have created shop mannequins that resemble pregnant school girls in order to bring attention to the issue. The display models have bumps and are dressed in blue school uniforms.

According to the Telegraph, the mannequins will be on show in a shopping mall in Caracas for a month and this may be extended to other centres.

It is reported that almost a quarter (23 per cent) of all babies born in Venezuela are to mothers under the age of 18.
