If you want a fun little optical illusion to start off your Sunday, step this way.
A new teasing image has found its way online, and the internet remains divided – just how many faces can you see in this tree illusion?
Spotted by i100, the picture started grabbing people’s attention on Facebook over the past 24 hours – but users can’t agree on how many faces they can really spot.
According to i100, the image is believed to have been drawn in the 1880s by an unnamed artist for Harper’s Illustrated, demonstrating the national leaders of a country in the spaces between branches of a tree.
While the artist remains unconfirmed, possible leaders that have been spotted in the illustration includes Gandhi, Mikhael Gorbachev and Margaret Thatcher – which throws the original theory out the window.
What we do know though, is that people are struggling to decide whether they see 10 or 11 faces in the picture.
Either way, we’re pretty sure this is the kind of taxing exercise that could keep us glued to our phone all morning.
