6 reasons why autumn is the best (I blend in perfectly so I should know)

Louise Carroll

Is there anyone who doesn’t adore the autumn season? We think not.

Firstly, summer tends to be a let-down. We’re 53 degrees north (that’s very north), and yet we expect tremendous weather. Although we did have a good summer by Irish standards, we can always count on beautiful autumn. It never lets us down.

Here’s why I and many more simply adore.

1. It’s the season of change

With winds picking up slightly, leaves changing to various shades of red, orange, yellow, brown and even a few pinky-purples – everything feels fresh. No longer shall we redheads stand out like a sore thumb but instead, have our time coexisting as the ultimate masters of disguise. Camouflage has forever been a powerful tool used for survival and at last, us redheads can reap the benefits.

2. The days will be crisp and cool

We can say farewell to the summer humid air and constant worry over sweat patches. Unless you lived in a string top all summer you know what I mean. We can all rest assured our body temperature will remain normal easily controlled during the autumn season.

3. Soups are back

It’s time to bulk up nicely for the winter ahead and get all those vital nutrients packed in, plus the carbs (yum). They have never been more vital. It’s time we spoil ourselves with seasonal soups like butternut squash, potato or pumpkin soup.

4. Guilt free cosy couch time

Ladies put those feet up, invest in a few pairs of fluffy socks, make that delightful cup of tea, grab a blanket and enjoy hours of shameless TV. It’s bitterly cold out at night, so what else would we be doing?

5. Hallelujah! Styling ourselves is simple

At long last we can layer, pop on our coat, whip on the boots and tah-dah! We’re good to go. We know it all fits and it’s just too easy to accessorise. Note the autumn inspiration below…

6. We get to play dress up

Halloween (the festival of dress-up hoes) is fast approaching! The spooky season is one of the most magical as we watch Hocus Pocus (yet again), eat oodles of sugary sweets, grab a fancy costume and go haywire with our wacky makeup creations!
